Insulating Concrete Formwork

Insulating Concrete Formwork by Amvic Ireland

AMVIC Ireland is the exclusive license holder for Amvic Insulating Concrete Formwork System (or ICF for short) for Ireland and the UK.
With this Modern Method of Construction (MMC) you can build warm, comfortable places to live and work.
Amvic ICF system is suitable for almost any kind of building
Amvic ICF is certified by the Irish Agrement Board and the Building Research Establishment for use in all types of buildings.

Amvic ICF is accepted by the major structural insurers including Homebond, Premier Insurance and the NHBC in the UK.
A building constructed using Amvic ICF system will achieve far higher thermal, sound, and fire performance standards than traditional construction methods such as block or timber frame, and at a much lower cost for comparable performance than any other system available today.
You can be assured that a building constructed using Amvic ICF will out perform your expectations in every way

Sustainability with the ICF System

Sustainability decisions must consider the lifetime of a building and not just the initial impacts. In Ireland, 10% of our CO2 emissions come from the construction of our built environment. But a massive 50% comes from actually using our buildings, 27% of which is residential use.

And this is where ICF construction really comes into its own, both in terms of its durability and its energy-efficiency, proving that it is a truly sustainable modern method of construction (MMC).

The operating savings in energy and thus carbon emissions easily outweigh the initially higher carbon input used in the construction Of ICF and the system will continue to perform for decades to come.

What is I.C.F.

ICFs consist of 2 panels of 1.2 metres long, 0.4 metres high, and 64mm thick high density polystyrene panels, spaced apart by high strength polypropylene webs. The forms provide a permanent, stay-in-place shuttering system for concrete construction.

The system is based on a reinforced concrete core, which provides the necessary structural integrity, noise attenuation and durability to the building. The polystyrene panels provide the thermal insulation to the structure, with a U-value as low as 0.22W/m2K being achievable.

The forms, being extremely light (3.5 kg each), are simple and easy to build, with all of the attendant handling and safety benefits. The powerful combination of the patented, reversible FormLockT interlock, EPS composition, innovative web design and web spacing result in:

  • (1) A simple, strong formwork system that requires less support during installation giving straight, flat and plumb walls.
  •
  • (2) Less wastage when compared against other ICF or building systems.
  •
  • (3) The ability to withstand internal concrete vibration, ensuring a structurally superior wall.

We offer the most user-friendly ICF on the market due to its innovative design which increases speed of construction, reduces labour costs and provides the highest level of performance during and after construction.

A wide range of external finishes may be used including brick, stone, timber cladding, and renders. The certified external finishes are by Relius Renders, a BASF Group Company, specially designed for use on external wall insulation systems. A wide variety of colours and textures are available.
